Exhibition on Tagore's 150th birth annivesary celebration 'Remembrance Tagore : through Lens' held recently in Kathmandu at NAFA Areniko Gallery, jointly organized by Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu, NAFA and Buriganga Arts & Crafts.

Ambassador of Bangladesh, Prof Dr. Neem Chandra Bhowmick inaugurated the show on 5th Feb as chief guest; while VICE Chancellor of NAFA Mr. Thakur Prasad Mainali, Dhaka University Professor Dr. Abdus Satter and photographer Shamsunnahar Lovely spoke on that occasion.

This is for the first time an event on nobel laureate poet of Bengal Rabindranath Tagore held in Kathmandu.

The exhibition ended on Feb 7, 2012.

We were attacked by a Inexperience earthquake disaster, tsunami and radioactive contamination in 2011. And it is still alive under the influence. However, we and our children have "The Future". Please show your “The Future” for us.
So, We decide theme of new mail art is “The Future”.
Although size and technique are free, please send them by snail mail with your name, address, e-mail address, small photo and simplified personal history(CV).
Exhibition will be held at Atelier Kirigiris in June 2012.
An on-line catalog in blog form or album exhibition by facebook is carried out.
A work you sent to us is not returned.
Moreover, if you can cooperate, can you donate sheets of stamp for sale?
I hope to be made to a part of exhibition expense in a gallery.
If the price in the case of selling was decided, please let me know.
Please think that a theme is a curator’s recommend theme. So, you can send works by free theme. For example, “Mail Art is pleasant for me” etc. Enjoy freely.

NEW MAIL ART PROJECT: AFTER ANN LET US REBEL REBEL

The deadline for The book of ANN (Friour project 12) is 31 December 2011.
The past year was great on a MAIL ART and KITTY level, so THANX to all who contributed and exchanged art and ideas.
I now present the successor for 2012 and already email my season greetings to YOU ALL.
FRIOUR project 13 is on rebellion, contestation, protest in all its meanings: artistic, political, social, cultural, historical and present ones.

I dedicate this 2012 project to all mail artists who have told me they like my art but PLEASE Guido stay away from politics! They are forgetting that all the great art movements of the modernist past (Dada, Surrealism, Cobra, Situationism) were involved in attempts to change society. So REBEL REBEL aka the essence of art expressions by artists living in society, rooted in all the social and cultural contradictions of the world. Because after all it is not only Wall street we need to occupy because the public domain is our space. Reclaim the streets indeed!!

POWER TO THE PEOPLE, TO THE ANIMALS, TO THE TREES AND TO THE ASTONISHING STONES OF OUR UNIVERSE (it is OUR universe: not belonging to banks, corporations, dictators, the state, the police or other self proclaimed authorities: we are the world, the world are we, so REBEL REBEL till you drop, don’t shop, burn all billboards down, spit on your local flag and embrace humanity as a whole, for XXX sake, REBEL REBEL till the end of time, REBEL against death and REBEL against the way we live or against those who impose us how to live.

Take responsibilty of your own life and destinity, this means also taking responsibility of our planet and existence in our own hands. Don’t depend of power, create your own power, or refute power altogether!

The local government of Nyíracsád and Ligetalja Tourist Association are inviting mail art applications. Those pieces of art are to be sent that can be delivered by post. The works will not be sent back but become the property of Nyíracsád and lodged in Than Mór Mail Art Museum, where they will be constantly exhibited in a 2-3 months rotation.

There is no constraint regarding the technique.

Videogame is going to be the next medium to be considered
an art form per se. “Insert Coin” features at the same time
technological artefacts, modern, and more “traditional” works
(paintings, installations and performances) and an exposition
of Postal Art. The immaterial sculpture of software meets the
physics of Mail Art in the concept of playable network. :)
